Christmas madness at sundries supplier Daan Kromhout

For the second part of our Behind the Scenes Christmas special, we went to sundries supplier Daan Kromhout where we spoke with Danny van Delft. Read more below to see why Christmas is keeping them busy year round.

Daan Kromhout and Florismart have been working together for 2 years now. This collaboration enabled Daan Kromhout to trade in a market they could not get to at first. Although the Netherlands is still their biggest sales market, they are growing in Belgium, Germany and now, because of Florismart, also in the UK.

Christmas preparations

Because Daan Kromhout isn’t a grower, their Christmas preparations are a bit different. Having enough stock to supply every florist with Christmas goodies is their main goal. This is actually a year-round priority. Every year they go to Christmas World in Germany during February to come in contact with Chinese suppliers. That is also when they put together their Christmas assortment. So when we’re fully focused on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day it’s already snowing in their minds! They take so much time preparing for the holidays because Christmas is such an important period at Daan Kromhout sales wise.

Christmas assortment

Baubles are a hit every year, but they always try to find new fun items. ‘We search for items that are not too expensive and not too crazy’, Danny says.

Daan Kromhout’s assortment is easily recognised because every year they use the same basis for their Christmas products with some small changes. Because as you may know, there are certain products florists can’t do without.

Christmas trends

‘Every year there are new Christmas colours’, Danny says. ‘But red, white and silver are the Christmas colours that never go out of style’.
