Trend #1: Naked cakes, dressed in florals

The naked cake or topper-less cake officially arrived for this season! What to expect? A minimalistic, clean cake with equal decorations. Dress up the cake with flowers and greens that complement the wedding’s theme or colour palette. Or go green and use beautiful foliages to decorate the wedding cake. Add a thin layer of frosting – making the cake translucent – and you are bang on trend!

Trend #2: Texture is key

A recurring autumn wedding trend: textured bouquets! Autumn is the perfect time for freshly picked, wild-looking bouquets. Think of different types of flowers which fit perfectly into your colour scheme. A favourite of many? Stunning burgundy Dahlias. You could also add accents to your bouquet by using Viburnum or Hypericum berries, Lotus pods or Fiddlehead Ferns.

Trend #3: Pampas Grass

Not necessarily bound to fall, Pampas Grass is a true hit and taking over weddings! Just put some stems with big light brown or white feathers into a vase or feature it in large arrangements and you will have a real eye-catcher in the room. The feathery stems blend in perfectly with another 2019 trend: dried flowers and greens. Of course, Pampas Grass itself is suitable for drying too. Did you know that Pampas Grass was very popular in the 70s?

Trend #4: Ferns

Expect to see lots of Ferns this season – gently replacing the ever-popular Silver Dollar Eucalyptus and Dusty Miller. Some even say that Ferns are the new Eucalyptus. Either way, the greens are perfect in complementing a boho-chic wedding theme or to add texture to any bridal bouquet.
