Although the RHS Chelsea Flower show took place a few weeks ago, we still can’t stop dreaming about the wonderful designs that were displayed there. We already wrote about the Young Florist of the Year: Ellouise Hasler-Stott. But we must not forget about the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year. This year the honour goes to none other than Florismart florist Rebecca Hough.
Floral wedding throne
“Spring Wedding” was the theme for this year’s competition at RHS Chelsea. The florists were asked to create a floral wedding throne. One of the conditions was that 2/3 of the finished design had to be made from fresh flowers and/or plant material.
All the florists’ designs were breathtakingly beautiful. But Rebecca Hough’s design convinced the judges that only she could be the gold medallist and the winner of the title RHS Chelsea Florist of the year. Rebecca used gorgeous succulents that were sponsored by Winco Holland and many other flowers that were sponsored by Florismart.
“It still doesn’t feel real! I really didn’t expect to win, I was just so proud of the piece I had made, I was happy with that. Obviously winning a medal would have just topped it off, but never did I imagine I’d get the only gold of the competition and the title! It’s just fantastic, and the sponsorship from Florismart and Winco was a great help.
I just hope that this can be another step towards getting the North East back on the Floristry map!”
