1  Monstera

We will kick off our list of Instagram proof plants with the well-known Monstera. This plant is loved by many and famous for its big leaves with iconic notches. These notches are called fenestrations and appear once the Monstera matures. The most popular Monstera is probably the Monstera Deliciosa. Are you looking to extend your Monstera family? Then try the Swiss Cheese Plant – the (often) smaller sibling of the Monstera Deliciosa. Click here if you could use some Monstera care tips.

2  Nerve Plant

Loving houseplants, but looking for something other than just green? Opt for the Nerve Plant! The nickname of the Fittonia derives from its outstanding leaf veins – vibrant colours and unusual patterns guaranteed. This plant will surely brighten up even the dullest spots in your house.

Prayer Plant

3 Prayer Plant

The Prayer Plant is a true feast for the eye and very photogenic! Do you find it hard to get the right shot in one go? Be patient, as the dynamic Prayer Plant will treat you to different angles as the day goes by. At night, the leaves of this plant tend to fold together like praying hands, hence its common name. The ‘Maranta Leuconeura’ species has some of the most strikingly beautiful, decorative leaves you have ever seen. Imagine deep green, velvety leaves with yellow splotches down the midrib and red veins across the leaves.

4 Sweetheart Plant

Be careful: this plant might steal your heart! Hoya Kerrii, better known by its common name ‘Sweetheart Plant’, is without a doubt the most romantic succulent out there. Look at its lovely shape and you get why this is a bestseller in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. You often see these plants get sold as single-leaf plants, but more mature Hoya Kerrii plants look like bushes of green hearts.

5 Polkadot Begonia

All Begonias are lovely plants, but we explicitly fell in love with the ‘Begonia Maculata’, better known as the Polkadot Begonia. Its angel wing-shaped leaves and dots everywhere make it a true eye-catcher in every room as well as on your Instagram profile. Did you know that the Polkadot Begonia is a quite easy to propagate plant as well? Just imagine a room full of dotted Begonia plants…

6 Zig Zag Cactus

This plant does not only have multiple nicknames because of its appearance, it probably has something to do with the fact that nobody could pronounce its botanical name as well. ‘Selenicereus Anthonyanus’ is the official name of this plant, that often goes by the name Zig Zag Cactus or Fishbone Cactus. While looking at them, we have to admit that their leaf shape is quite unusual and funky. And when it blooms, it will treat you to some showstopping pink flowers. Still not convinced? What if we tell you that like most Cacti, this is a relatively low-maintenance plant.

7 String of Hearts

Another heart-warming plant on our list of Instagram proof plants is the ‘Ceropegia Woodii’, better known as the String of Hearts or Rosary Vine. This trailing plant has long slender vines covered in heart-shaped foliage. As the String of Hearts is a semi-succulent plant, it likes dry soil better than wet soil. Make sure not to overwater it and let the soil dry out completely between waterings.
