Discover 2019’s top 5 wedding trends

Thousands of brides get married every year in the UK. And every year new trends find its way into wedding work like bridal bouquets and table decorations. As wedding season is almost upon us we decided that it is time to dive into the world of wedding floristry. In this article, we’ll discuss some of 2019’s biggest wedding trends.

Trend #1: Bringing the outdoors in

According to one of our wedding florists – Katie-Jane Hermes, owner of The Garden Studio – the opportunities to bring the outdoors in are endless. Katie-Jane: “As florists, isn’t this what we love? Transforming a room into something you would not expect and making our clients feel like they have been transported to a fairy tale setting. Whether you do this by bringing out the beautiful white blossom trees, creating a canopy for guests to walk under or a simple foliage hoop hanging from the ceiling.”

Trend #2: Eco-friendly weddings

As more people are becoming environmentally conscious every year, it’s no surprise that many brides will choose an eco-friendly wedding. Think of recycled stationery – for example for the invites and place cars, locally sourced food & services and the use of more ethically produced and seasonal flowers. Trend #3: Banquet style tables

Wedding Florist of the Year 2019 for the regions Yorkshire and North East, Katie-Jane: “Banquet style tables offer a less formal dining style and the perfect opportunity to bring detail into the florals that will be seen. Think low luxurious bowls or full flowing garlands, paired with metallics and thin tapered candles.”

Trend #4: Going green

The last couple of years there’s a rise in the number of requests for all-green weddings. This trend – which is obviously here to stay – goes hand in hand with the ‘bringing the outdoors in’ theme. Think of an all-green bridal bouquet, centrepieces or buttonholes to add rustic flair. A wedding day covered in foliage is what many brides seem to pursue. We can’t argue with that seeing the spectacular outcome!

Trend #5: Peachy weddings

Katie-Jane: “We are seeing a lot of Peach coming through this year. This could well reflect Pantone’s Colour of the Year: Living Coral. We have been pairing it in many different combinations. My favourites being Peach, Blush and Burgundy or Peach and Powder Blue.”
